Putting (DivX/XviD) AVI to Galaxy Note 5

Outline: This guide shows you how to convert (DivX/XviD) AVI files to Galaxy Note 5 compatible videos so that you can put AVI to Galaxy Note 5 for playing with no hassle.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 have become a hot topic. Equipped with 5.7-inch, 2,560x1,440 pixel display, Samsung Galaxy Note 5 adds more fun to your digital entertainment without doubt. As a video player, just like any other Android, Galaxy Note 5 only supports limited video formats like MP4, M4V, 3GP, 3G2, WMV, ASF, AVI, FLV, MKV, WEBM, etc. Thus, chances are that when you'd like to put and play some videos, say AVI, on Note 5, it just tells you "invalid format". Why?

In this case, what can you do? How can you play unaccepted videos like AVI on Galaxy Note 5?

The real reason is that AVI is a container format. It can be encoded by different codecs like DivX, XviD, some of the codecs may not compatible with Galaxy Note 5, so we'll have problems when playing these AVI movies on Note 5, even with some popular Android video player like MX player, BS player, VLC, etc. In this case, to view (DivX/XviD) AVI files on Samsung Galaxy Note 5, we need to convert AVI to H.264 or MPEG-4 encoded format first. Here is the tutorial on encoding AVI to MP4 for Galaxy Note 5 with iFastime Video Converter Ultimate (Read review).

Launch the AVI to Galaxy Note 5 converter. To add AVI files, you can just drag video from your file folders to the list in the operating window, or head to "Add video" button to choose the file you want to convert.

2. Select output format

Select a Galaxy Note 5 friendly format, e.g. H.264 .mp4 for conversion. Or you can select the "Samsung -> Samsung Galaxy Note 4(*.mp4)" as the target format. (Check Galaxy Note series supported formats

3. Advanced video audio settings (Optional)

If you like, you can click "Settings" to change the video encoder, resolution, frame rate, etc. as you wish. According to my experience, the file size and video quality is based more on bitrate than resolution which means bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss, and vice versa. For watching videos on Galaxy Note 5 with 30fps is just all right. And set bitrate to 1.5Mbps for H.264 and 2.5Mbps for MPEG-4.

4. Start to convert AVI files to Galaxy Note 5

Click the "Star conversion" button at the bottom right corner to start converting AVI files to Galaxy Note 5 playable video. Once the process completes, locate the files and transfer/put the converted videos to your Galaxy Note 5 for playback witout any problem.
